Story about Us!

Roger, Nichola, Gary, Ade, James, Richard and Paul; we are the team that make up A & E Leisure.

Firstly we would like to thank you for taking time to view our web site and by reading this you may get to know us a little better and hopefully we will get to meet you and get to know you too!

So…who are we…well, we all worked together at the ‘old’ Harrington’s site (I use this name because most people still refer to the site as Harrington’s). For those who do not know, Harrington’s was a family run business, still largely respected in the area that had a very keen customer following. Discover Leisure later acquired the business and merged other leisure groups together under the banner of Discover Leisure. Discover Leisure entered into administration on the 14th October 2011, making the 69 people on the Cheshire site redundant and many customer’s left stranded.

Roger’s story

Roger worked as a Service Manager for Barrons in Chorley at the Coppull Site from 2002-2005. Working his way up the ranks within the Service department Roger found a great sense of satisfaction dealing with customers and their caravans which found him favour with the both Customers and the Barons Management team.
It was not long before he was seconded to work over the other side of the country in Darlington as the Aftersales Manager overseeing a large Service/PDI department and an offsite bodyshop at Whessoe Rd. During his time here achieved massive increases in customer satisfaction and grew the department to be the largest operating Service/Repair department in the group and in doing so pushed the Darlington site ahead of Coppull in terms of volume of sales.
Roger then became a Group Aftersales Manager when Discover Leisure took over the Barrons business looking after the 17 Service Centre’s throughout the Group.

Nichola’s story…

Hi my name is Nichola Floyd, I worked for Harringtons for 7 years and then continued with Discover until I was made redundant on the 14th of October. I worked as a service receptionist and as a warranty Administrator dealing with many customers and manufacturers.

Since A & E Leisure has been set up, I have been working hard trying to get our name out to some of our old customers and dealing with people that have already found us; from delivering leaflets to ringing past contacts and everything in between.

It’s great that customer’s can be relaxed with us and we can be friendly with them in return, we are getting lots of support praise which always helps spur us on!

Gary’s story…

Hi I’m Gary, I have worked with caravans all my working life, I left school and started work at Widnes caravans, I did most of my training with Widnes like ALKO, Thetford, Spinflow and passed my city and guilds exams. I also went on to develop skills in Gas, Electrics and bodywork. During the time I worked at Widnes they established themselves as a Bailey repairer and during this period spent time at the Bailey Factory learning about what was then the latest in caravan technology. Since Widnes closed I approached Discover Leisure for a job and soon found myself working in the bodyshop as one of the team. About that time Bailey launched the Alu-tech product and I found myself getting involved with the ‘Alu-tech repair status’ training. I spent a number of days at Bailey learning how to replace full side walls and roof panels.

I started at A & E Leisure when Discover went bust and have enjoyed the last two years of trading, watching the company grow and seeing some of the familiar faces from years before. Being part of a smaller company means we can carry out the smaller touches that really matter. I’ve always had pride in my work but seeing directly how happy our customers are brings great satisfaction and this is the reason why I enjoy my job!

Adrian’s story…

Hi I’m Adrian, in my previous working roles I spend time working on cars, until I started work at Harringtons, I worked at Harringtons for about 20 years before Discover took over the branch. My main duties were in the bodyshop, repairing accident damaged and water damaged caravans.

I’ve seen many changes in the design and development of caravans over the years, we are mostly working on newer caravans today but I still enjoy seeing some of the older ones coming through, it’s good to see people keeping them in good condition.

Hello I’m Richard, I joined the team in March 2015 working in the accessory shop.

My previous experiences working as a Chef, Postman, Car importer and Owner of a removals business have given me a lot of attributes that i have applied to my new role here.  After one too many injuries i decided a less physical job was required and started looking into sales roles which is where i found A&E Leisure….since starting with the business i have had to learn many new skills as well as getting my head around the caravan/leisure industry, which i can tell you isn’t easy!  With such great accessories as E&P Hydraulic Leveling Systems and VB Air Suspension as well as the more well known brands such as TELECO – VANGO – FIAMMA to name only a few there has never been a better time to break into the leisure industry and i can honestly say i get a huge amount of satisfaction from helping people chose the perfect accessory to enhance their leisure vehicle.

I really enjoy the interaction with our customers and enjoy listening to all the adventures people get up to.  I am a keen biker and love to get out when i get the time and the weather allows.

I hope to see you soon!

Let us know when your next service is due and we will call you back to arrange everything for you.
